About Me

A web-based soapbox of an Assistant Professor of color in Chemical Engineering; sharing my feelings on books, academia, and current events. I hope you enjoy reading 🙂

The early blog posts focus on my college journey and personal growth while I was studying for my Bachelors in Chemical Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh (Hail to Pitt!).

I continued to share and evolve during my PhD at the University of Iowa, and opened up more about myself and tried to incorporate more about other things than just me.

As a Post Doc I shared a bit about my unhappiness, but I spent most of the time exhausted thanks largely to my pregnancy and COVID19.

Now, the blog is run by a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Chemical Engineering at the University of Kentucky (still me!).

I grew up in Milwaukee, WI, attended college in Pittsburgh, PA, did an internship in Midland, MI, graduate studies in Iowa City, IA, and settled down for my career in Lexington, KY. I have great love, memories, and appreciation for each place… and I’ll never tell which is/was my actual favorite place to live!
