Have you requested your absentee ballot if you need it? Stand up for your beliefs and your politicians this November! If you need to register, here’s a handy link for you to VOTE THIS NOVEMBER!
Now, about me. Yes, I know what time it is, but this is the first chance I got to sit down and finish writing the post that I outlined. Let me tell you a little secret: posting daily is hard work. I have gained so much respect for those who are able to do it. So much!
Suge Knight, a man suspected of involvement with Tupac’s murder, has plead no contest to the deadly car crash that occurred on the Straight Outta Compton movie set. The co-founder of Death Row Records (the other was Dr. Dre) was sentenced to 28 years in prison. Knight is no stranger to run-ins with the law, but it looks like he may be behind bars for awhile now.
Okay, update: according to Suge Knight’s son, Tupac is alive and partying with Beyonce in Malaysia. I did this to myself, but if you want to check it out, click here.
Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Denis Mukwege and Nadia Murad for their work as activists against rape in war zones. Murad herself was a victim of sexual assault in war zones and Mukwege is a physician specialized in gynecological surgery that has spent much of his career helping sex crimes victims. Each of these individuals has used their voices to help female victims, and despite their circumstances have not stood down in the face of hardship and trying to be silenced.
Mountain goats in Olympic National Park (Washington, USA) were moved to the North Cascades due to their increased aggression, because they were addicted to human sweat and human urine. I personally am not sure how these goats got addicted to human secretions, and I am not sure that I want to know. I do know that you find some very interesting things poking around Huffington Post.
Polio-like illness diagnosed in six children in Minnesota. In case you don’t know, because polio was eradicated in the USA thanks to vaccines (but not in other parts of the world including Pakistan and Nigeria), it is caused by a virus that affects the nervous system. It often causes paralysis and is transferred through contaminated food and water sources. Officially, this illness is “acute flaccid myelitis” or “AFM”. The present illness in Minnesota children is also causing paralysis, although medical professionals are not sure of the source. 14 cases of a polio-like disorder have also been reported in Colorado. Nationwide, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have confirmed 38 cases across 16 states in 2018 (no this does not add up, which means that some of the reported cases in Minnesota and Colorado have not been confirmed by the CDC).
